Reclaim time. Reconnecting with ourselves.

A villa, a suite, a pool and contemporary art

The fundamentals when creating the hospitality part of Tenuta di Carma – Carma R.Elais – was to be at one with nature. You decide your pace. Find the time to read, swim, meditate, go trekking, and dedicate some time to searching for small, artisanal producers for ingredients to cook your dinner with (or have it cooked for you). If you want to be active, the things you can do inside Tenuta di Carma are as diverse as olive oil tastings, massages, yoga lessons, hiking or cooking. The fruit from our trees (plums, nuts, apples, pomegranates, berries and lemons), depending on the season, are at our guests’ disposal. Staying at the estate has the benefits of complete privacy and the flexibility to do anything at your own pace. A stylish space to share memories and adventures in a breath-taking spot.

Villa

The villa has three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, and a spacious living and dining area inside and out. Two of the bedrooms are on the ground floor, one is on the top floor. The views are stunning from each angle of the house, either over Civita di Bagnoregio or the canyons. The kitchen is fully equipped, and a cook is at your disposal should you desire, to prepare local and Italian dishes.

Suite

The suite is in a separate building, in a small house with views as stunning as those of the Villa. It has one bedroom, with an adjacent bathroom, a living area and a small kitchen. It also has an open air terrace over the Calanchi, the Canyons of the Valley. The two houses are connected by a short path, and so the two houses can accommodate one party of six people in the villa and two in the Suite.

The houses blend seamlessly into the landscape as they overlook the vast canyons called calanchi

Design

The interior design of the houses has been kept airy and minimal, as we thought of it as a space to live nature intensely and not be distracted by overwhelming decor. The aim was to enhance the truly spectacular setting. Elements of nature, such as wood, earth and stone were entwined into our thinking of creating something around this insurmountable raw, rocky land, etched by canyons shaded by intense greenery.

Art

The contemporary art in the houses is a small part of the collection that belongs to the owners. It is mainly, but not only, works of Italian artists and are related to the landscape or to the property for specific reasons. Many of them have to do with nature, in its different forms and the different emotions it awakens and provokes. Some of the artists have realized site specific projects. Some of the artists who came to Carma have then realized pieces of art, that have been reproduced in limited editions and are exposed in the houses and can be purchased.

Relax

A salt water swimming pool in the middle of the olive grove, overlooking the other side of the valley like a modern day Eden, is realized in Roman travertine, set far enough away from the living area so as to not to disturb, is at our guests disposal.
